Meet The Investment Influencers: Waverton's Luke Hyde-Smith
In the latest in our series of interviews with some of the industry's key Investment Influencers, Investment Week talks to Luke Hyde-Smith, head of third party fund selection at Waverton.
Who are the Investment Influencers?
The fund selection and research sectors play a major part in the UK's asset management industry, but who are the key individuals in these areas?
We have identified them as those who not only control the allocation of fund flows and decide ratings, but are respected by asset managers for the depth of their knowledge, the honesty of their views, their professionalism in analysing and selecting funds, and the responsibility with which they manage clients' assets.
Over the coming months, we will be meeting these key players and revealing their views on the world of investing and how they are facing the challenges under which we all operate including: more onerous regulation, an uncertain market environment and increased short-termism.
This week's Influencer
This week, we talk to Luke Hyde-Smith, head of third party fund selection at Waverton.
Luke joined the company in February 2017. He is also the lead manager of the Waverton Tactical Equity fund, and co-manager of the Waverton Real Assets fund and Waverton Absolute Return fund.
Prior to working at Waverton, he was at Brompton Asset Management where he built and developed their collective investment selection process and was a key team member who focussed on managing a range of multi-asset class strategies.
He has extensive experience in sourcing new investment opportunities, formulating asset class views and carrying out research and manager due diligence.
Luke has also worked as a fund analyst at New Star and previously at SG Private Bank.
