Marsh JLT Specialty Adds Global Leader To Energy Practice

Marsh JLT Specialty adds global leader to energy practice

In the latest of numerous high-profile additions to the energy roster of Marsh JLT Specialty, Hamish Roberts (pictured) has been appointed as global renewable energy leader, Marsh JLT Specialty, effective January 01, 2021. Roberts, who will continue to be based in London, will report to Andrew George, global head, energy & power, Marsh JLT Specialty.

In a press release, Marsh noted the significant experience Roberts holds in insurance and risk management for the renewable energy industry, and his work in a variety of advisory roles in the international energy and power sector over the past 35 years. Among these roles, Roberts was previously power leader, Marsh JLT Specialty, and served as CEO of Aon’s global power specialty for six years.

In his newly created role, he will develop the business’s renewable energy proposition and create new services and solutions in a bid to support the fast-growing renewable energy industry globally. In addition, Roberts’ role will involve enabling traditional providers to continue their transition to renewable power sources.

Commenting on the growth of the energy roster of the Marsh JLT Specialty, George highlighted that, over the last year, Marsh has invested significantly in expanding its specialist capabilities and geographical reach to support its clients in renewable energy and power.

“Hamish is an outstanding leader who has dedicated his career to the development of insurance and risk solutions that support the global transition to renewable energy,” he said. “Under his leadership, we are strongly placed to assist the sector as it adapts to the challenges and opportunities it faces.”

Meanwhile, Roberts noted that, as the end of 2020 approaches, there is renewed political will to move towards further decarbonization and more sustainable energy sources. Faced with a changing landscape as more companies look to decarbonize their footprints and market challengers look to redefine the energy landscape, he believes that Marsh JLT Specialty’s global renewable energy team will play a key role in supporting its clients and communities as they transition towards more sustainable and carbon-neutral futures.
