The hack occurred on September 20, 2024,and the hackers renamed the channel to “Ripple Official” and replaced the profile picture with Ripple’s logo. The hackers rebranded the channel and a fake livestream was created, promoting a fraudulent XRP investment scheme with promises of unusually high returns.

Previous videos on the channel, including important judicial proceedings and announcements, were deleted. YouTube removed the compromised account within hours of detection as the platform’s automated systems flagged the channel for suspicious activity.

Previous Incidents of XRP Scams on YouTube
In April 2023, popular YouTube DidYouKnowGaming’s Channel with 2.4 million subscribers was hacked to promote XRP scams.
Ripple had also sued YouTube for failing to remove XRP scams from its platform, and the two parties reached a settlement.
