Solanas Pump.Fun Hacker Jarrett Dunn Moves To Withdraw Guilty Plea

In a surprising twist, Jarett Dunn, who previously pleaded guilty to a significant attack on the Solana-based memecoin launchpad Pump.Fun, is now attempting to retract his plea. This development comes two months after he admitted guilt for siphoning approximately $2 million from the protocol. This decision now seems to be in jeopardy as his legal representation has withdrawn from the case.

Solana-Based Pump.Fun Attacker to Withdraw Guilty Plea

Dunn, identified as a disgruntled former employee, targeted Pump.Fun, claiming the protocol had “inadvertently hurt people for a long time.” His actions involved redistributing tokens to multiple random addresses, which many perceived as a brazen act, leading some to label him as crypto‘s version of Robin Hood. However, the repercussions of his actions left numerous retail traders adversely affected.

At a recent court appearance at Wood Green Crown Court in London, Dunn faced the potential of more than seven years behind bars. Instead of proceeding with sentencing, he requested to withdraw his guilty plea, a move that could complicate his legal situation. His attorneys disclosed that Dunn is now seeking new legal counsel to navigate this unexpected shift.

Dunn’s case has gained significant media attention, particularly due to the controversy surrounding Pump.Fun, which has been linked to various scams and wild antics. These include incidents where individuals went to extreme lengths to promote their tokens. Despite this backdrop, the platform has reportedly been active recently, selling substantial amounts of SOL.

Now without legal representation, Dunn has a two-week window to secure new attorneys before the court will hear his plea withdrawal. If granted, his case could advance to trial, potentially featuring testimony from the founders of Pump.Fun and other witnesses.

Chances of Court Denial

The court may, however, deny Dunn’s request to withdraw his plea, especially given his previous admissions of guilt. This includes a notable post on X shortly after the attack where he stated, “Everybody be cool, this is a robbery.”

Despite the mounting legal pressures, Dunn remains active on social media, engaging with followers about his situation. Today, he expressed concerns over potential smear campaigns should he be jailed. He posted, “I had a wee bit of fear that the moment I were jailed there would be smear campaigns and real sh** feds” and “paid actors doing real sh** things to bring me down.”

He defiantly declared, “you ain’t never gonna keep me down,” echoing his commitment to fighting the charges against him. Meanwhile, at the court hearing, Dunn appeared alone, accompanied only by his girlfriend and a friend from a recovery group. Moreover, his response regarding new legal representation raised eyebrows among observers present.
