BitTorrent has announced the official release of BTFS V3.0 Heisenberg on the mainnet. The new update brings multiple intuitive features to elevate user experience, operational efficiency, and network security.

The mainnet release was made on the official X account of BitTorrent. The tweet, along with a Medium post, shed light on what the update is bringing. The new features include:-

  • Improved Encryption: After BTIP-72, BitTorrent has invested efforts in supporting symmetric encryption to satisfy diverse user requirements.
  • Enhanced Node Security: After thorough community discourse on BTIP-72, the export and import of keystore files are now allowed. It will simplify management and enhance node security as well.
  • Better Connectivity: BitTorrent has extensively overhauled its network connection to facilitate efficient and stale data transmission.
  • Batch Withdrawal: The update will support batch withdrawals throughout several nodes. This will streamline the mining process while improving efficiency.

The network also talked about the importance of the BTFS protocol and the evolution of decentralized networks. Above this, a major modification to the BTT storage rewards will go live on June 25.

After the adjustment, the total daily storage rewards will go down to 7.5 billion BTT tokens. Node operators have been asked to upgrade their nodes by June 25.

BTFS or the BitTorrent File System is a web app and protocol that facilitates a P2P content-addressable mechanism for sharing and storing digital content in a decentralized system.

At the same time, it also acts as a base platform for dApps. The BTFS team is figuring out new network operations along with market sentiment to deliver a series of dynamic adjustments, like airdrop reward schemes and upload prices.

The community has wholeheartedly welcomed the updates and is eagerly awaiting more changes.
