Norse Atlantic has confirmed its planned service between Gatwick and Jamaica’s capital Kingston will not go ahead this winter.
Earlier this year the low-cost carrier announced plans for three new Caribbean services from the end of October, including daily flights to Barbados, a four-times-weekly route to Jamaica’s Montego Bay, and three flights per week to Kingston.
The launch of these routes were subsequently delayed until December for “commercial reasons”, and Norse Atlantic has now confirmed to Business Traveller that the Kingston service will not now go ahead.
The spokesperson said that “Due to demand we have taken the decision to focus on Montego Bay”, which will remain as a four-times-weekly service launching in December. The Barbados route is scheduled to go ahead as planned.
The news follows the airline’s recent announcement of two new transatlantic routes to Miami International airport this winter. A four-times-weekly Paris CDG-Miami service will launch on 11 December, followed by weekly flights between Berlin and Miami from 15 December.

Norse recently announced that it had surpassed the milestone of one million booked passengers since it launched last year.
The carrier recorded an 85 per cent load factor in July, an increase of two per centage points compared to the previous month and the fifth consecutive month on month increase.
