Dubai-based carrier Emirates has said that it will expand services to and from South Africa with additional flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
The airline will be expanding its schedule to and from Johannesburg with three daily flights from March 1, 2023. EK 767 from Dubai to Johannesburg will operate with a Boeing 777 aircraft, complementing its double daily A380 operation. The flight will depart Dubai at 11.25pm, arriving Johannesburg at 5.35am the next day. The return flight will depart Johannesburg at 10.20pm and arrive in Dubai at 8.20am the next morning. The third daily flight from Johannesburg will offer more than 300 available seats each way.
Cape Town will be served with a double daily service starting from February 1, 2023. Emirates’ second daily service to Cape Town will depart Dubai at 9.10am, landing at 4.45pm. It will then depart Cape Town at 1.25pm, arriving in Dubai at 1.10am the next day. With the double daily service to Cape Town, the airline will have restored its pre-pandemic schedule.
Emirates will also be adding two more flights to Durban too, making it a daily operation from December 1, 2022.
The new flights between Dubai and the airline’s three gateways in South Africa will enhance Emirates’ schedule to 42 weekly services.
The additional flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban will also collectively provide more cargo belly-hold capacity to further scale up trade opportunities between South Africa and countries worldwide.
Emirates customers flying to South Africa can further avail of connections to regional cities across Southern Africa via the airline’s codeshare and interline partners including South African Airways, Airlink, Flysafair and Cemair.
Emirates has been flying to South Africa for the last 27 years, carrying over 20 million travellers to and from South Africa.
