British Airways has unveiled a number of enhancements to its inflight experience this summer.

World Traveller and World Traveller Plus customers on long-haul flights over the coming months will be offered a complimentary tub of Jude’s ice cream.

The initiative will be available on daytime flights departing Gatwick and Heathrow before 1700, with flavours including vanilla, strawberries and cream, chocolate and salted caramel.

BA is also reintroducing pre-take-off sparkling wine for World Traveller Plus passengers from mid-July, while customers in Club World will be offered Balfour Rosé de Noirs inflight as part of a rotating menu of sparkling wines in the premium cabin, and First passengers can opt for Chateau d’Esclans’ Rock Angel rosé.

Last month the airline announced plans to open a new bar at its Heathrow Terminal 5B lounge in partnership with Chateau d’Esclans’ Whispering Angel.

A range of summer-inspired menus will be offered across all cabins this summer, including fresh calamarata pasta and raspberry panna cotta in World Traveller Plus, and prawn cocktail, grilled fillet of Atlantic halibut and berry bread and butter pudding in First.

Finally BA will rebrand its short-haul Speedbird Café buy-on-board offering as the High Life Café later this month, in line with the carrier’s High Life magazine and shop.

Commenting on the news British Airways’ chief customer officer, Calum Laming, said:

“We know that so many of our customers have been looking forward to their summer holidays, so we’ve added these extra touches in time for summer to make their trips even more special.

“Each and every one of our customers are unique and have their own original reasons for travelling, so our fantastic colleagues will be on hand to bring some summer joy to our customers, whether they’re visiting family, exploring a new part of the world or heading to the beach for a week in the sunshine.”
