Air France has announced plans to launch flights between Paris CDG and Raleigh-Durham airport this winter.

The French flag carrier will offer a three-times-weekly Boeing 787-9 service from 30 October, taking over from transatlantic joint venture partner Delta which has operated the route since 2016.

Raleigh-Durham become Air France’s 14th US destination, joining Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York JFK, Newark, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington.

Flights will depart Paris on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 1330, arriving into Raleigh-Durham at 1635, with the return leg leaving the US airport at 1845, landing back into the French capital at 0825 the following day.

Air France will be the second European airline to serve Raleigh-Durham, joining Icelandair which launched flights from Reykjavik last year.

“Triangle-area travellers embraced RDU’s nonstop service to Paris when it launched in 2016 and have made it one of their favorite international destinations,” said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority.

“We welcome the arrival of Air France and the opportunities it provides to connect more travelers from our region with Paris and destinations in Europe, India and beyond.”

In other news, Air France will increase the frequency of its Paris-Dallas route from three to five flights per week this winter, and will extend its recently introduced Ottawa service into the winter season.
