The Yotel brand is set to debut in Japan in 2024.
Yotel Tokyo will be located in the city’s Ginza neighbourhood and include 244 rooms, the brand’s signature robot concierge Yobot, motorised SmartBeds and contactless technologies from reservation up to check-out.
There will also be a 24-hour fitness centre, a grab-and-go café with locally sourced products, meeting space and an outdoor terrace.
Hubert Viriot, CEO of Yotel, commented:
“Japan’s focus on technology and innovation has been an important source of inspiration for YOTEL ever since our inception. We are immensely proud and excited to announce our first hotel in Tokyo.
“A flagship for our group, YOTEL Tokyo will also be a steppingstone to roll out our brand across Japan, a market of strategic importance for YOTEL.”
The hotel is a 15-minute walk from Tokyo station, which offers access to other parts of Japan via the Shinkansen high-speed rail and access to the Narita International airport via the Narita express.
Yotel plans to expand further across Japan in key cities including Sapporo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe. The group is also working on opportunities to roll out its transit hotel concept Yotel Air at gateway airports and train stations.
The Yotel brand launched in 2007 at London’s Gatwick airport, and there are currently around 21 properties including six in the US.
This news comes after the opening of a dual-branded property in downtown Miami, offering a total of 453 hotel rooms and apartment-style “pads”.
