Wyndham Hotel and Resorts has announced plans to add the first property under its upscale Wyndham Grand brand in Mexico.

The existing Omni Cancun Hotel and Villas will be reflagged as the Wyndham Grand Cancun All-Inclusive Resort and Villas later this year, with reservations open through Wyndham from November 1.

The property is located in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, and features 364 rooms, suites and villas, as well as four swimming pools, a spa, fitness centre, tennis courts, and seven restaurants ranging from Italian and Brazilian to Japanese and Mexican.

The Wydnham Grand brand is a relatively exclusive collection of just 65 hotel worldwide (out of Wyndham’s sprawling portfolio of over 9,000 properties) – recent additions include the all-suite Wyndham Grand Algarve, and the brand is set to debut in Australia in 2024.

The news follows last week’s announcement that the current Ritz-Carlton Cancun – also situated in the city’s Hotel Zone – will become a Kempinksi property from next month.

Commenting on the news Scott LePage, President, Americas at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, said:

“Wyndham Grand resorts offer everyday travellers experiences in some of the world’s most sought-after destinations, which now includes Cancun.

“Travelers can expect an upscale experience in the heart of the destination and immerse themselves in the Mexican culture through the resort’s wide range of dining experiences and activities.”
