A total of 78 additional routes have been awarded under the fourth phase of UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagarik).
UDAN is a government initiative to connect India’s under-served and unserved airports to larger metros and make air travel affordable for the common man.
This time, the focus of UDAN scheme is to strengthen connectivity in northeast India. Aizawl in Mizoram, Tezpur in Assam, Agartala in Tripura, Dibrugarh in Assam, Shillong in Meghalaya, Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh and Guwahati in Assam are a few northeast regions that are being covered.
Other routes awarded under UDAN phase 4 include Guwahati -Tezu (Arunachal Pradesh); Tezu-Imphal (Manipur); Chandigarh-Hissar (Haryana); Delhi-Shimla and Diu-Vadodara.
