Turkish Airlines is rolling out dozens of SmartMic language translation devices to help improve communication between customers and staff.
Passengers can speak into the devices in their native tongue, which will then translate what has been said into staff members’ first language.
The devices feature seven-inch screens on either side, allowing both passengers and staff to follow translations in real-time.
A total of 100 of the devices – which supports 52 languages and 72 accents – have been introduced at the carrier’s Istanbul hub, as well as regional airports including Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman and Izmir.
Turkish Airlines said it would also “shortly” launch the technology in the UK, with plans to extend the coverage across it global network during 2024.
