Turkish Airlines has added a free messaging service for customers on selected international flights.
The benefit is initially available on all aircraft where internet access is provided by Turk Telekom, and will gradually be rolled out to all aircraft with internet connection.
Passengers get “free and limitless” messaging through applications including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and iMessage.
To take advantage of the offer they must be members of the carrier’s Miles&Smiles loyalty programme – those who have yet to join can do so via a form available before or during the flight.
In addition Miles&Smiles Classic Plus, Elite and Elite Plus members also benefit from “enhanced free internet packages”.
Commenting on the news Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Eksi, said:
“We are adding another innovative development to the countless improvements we made for Türkiye’s aviation sector as the national flag carrier.
“By combining our innovative approach with customer satisfaction, we are ensuring our passengers will be able to freely message their loved ones above clouds, staying in contact with them without any limits.”
Turkish Airlines recently opened an airport lounge at New York JFK’s Terminal 1, which is now also available to Priority Pass members.
