Marriott International has signed an agreement with NEOM to open three properties on the latter’s luxury island destination of Sindalah.

The agreement will result in Marriott opening its first Autograph Collection Hotels property in Saudi Arabia, as well as two Luxury Collection hotels.

Marriott’s Autograph Collection Hotels in Sindalah are slated to open in 2024. Plans for the resort include 66 rooms and suites, including one- and two-bedroom villas, multiple dining options, a kid’s club, and a spa.

The two Luxury Collection properties will also open in 2024. The first is a beach resort that will offer a mix of 70 luxury rooms and suites, including one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom villas, all featuring private pools. The second hotel is expected to be an all-suite property offering 115 one-, two- and three-bedroom luxury suites, and will be situated in the heart of the retail and marina district of Sindalah.

Saudi giga project Neom unveils first island development

“The Luxury Collection and Autograph Collection Hotels properties will express their own unique personality inspired by the exceptional natural landscapes of NEOM. We continue to see growth opportunities for our brand portfolio within the destination and Saudi Arabia overall,” said Jerome Briet, chief development officer, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Marriott International.

Sindalah is located in the Red Sea off the northwest coast of Saudi Arabia. Spread over 840,000 sqm, Sindalah is one of a group of islands that will be developed in NEOM and is expected to create 3,500 jobs within the tourism sector and related hospitality and leisure services.

Sindalah will feature an 86-berth marina, ideal for accommodating luxury yachts up to 75 meters, and also serviced offshore buoys for superyachts up to 180m.

“Sindalah will offer 38 unique F&B outlets including nine high end restaurants and nine premium casual restaurants, as well as on-yacht dining experiences and three further rooftop pop-up terraces,” Chris Newman, executive director of Hotel Development at NEOM previously told Business Traveller.

Sindalah is expected to welcome guests from early 2024, thereby becoming the first NEOM project to open in Saudi Arabia. Sindalah will feature 413 ultra-premium hotel rooms overall including 88 villas and a further 333 serviced apartments.
