Stansted airport has added eight new check-in desks in the latest phase of the airport’s £600 million transformation project.
The new desks add to those opened last year, and follow the recent addition of the airport’s first multi-storey car park.
The desks build on the shoreline configuration at the airport, “which means that when passengers enter the terminal the new desks will be directly in front of them”.
The airport also said that it had added new white and black floor tiles surrounding the check-in zone, “which subtly helps passengers navigate where they need to go”.
“The new layout will give passengers a more intuitive and easier journey through the airport and provide more flexibility to allow us to accommodate new airlines in the future,” it added.
It’s the latest phase of the London Stansted Airport Transformation Project, which aims to enable the airport to make best use of its existing runway capacity.
Recent milestones have included the opening of four new aircraft stands, and the launch of a new two-floor restaurant and bar concept inspired by London’s Camden district and its market stalls.
In November Stansted was given the go-ahead to increase its annual limit on passenger numbers to 43 million, and a new £150 million arrivals terminal is set to open in autumn 2020.
