Singapore Airlines has launched a new Flight Pass offering in partnership with Optiontown, which it says will allow customers “to make advance purchases of discounted bundles of flight tickets that can be used against future bookings”.
Essentially customers can pre-purchase multiple flight tickets at the price offered at the time of purchase, and then decide on travel dates further down the line.
The Flight Pass can be customised according to required travel zones, the number of people who can share it, the number of flights required, the eligible travel period, and how far in advance a flight must be booked.
Customers will then be offered a price, with a guarantee that “Additional surcharges will not be borne by the traveller even if the market fare of a flight increases”.
The option is initially being offered on SIA services between Singapore and Italy, South Korea, Spain, the Netherlands, and the UK, including VTL services.
US-based Optiontown also lists Travel Passes on its website for carriers including TAP Air Portugal, British Airways, Vietnam Airlines, Egyptair and Royal Jordanian.
Commenting on the news Mr Lee Lik Hsin, executive vice president commercial, Singapore Airlines, said:
“As more quarantine-free international travel flights become available, Flight Pass offers Singapore Airlines customers greater flexibility and options when planning their trips.
“It allows them to enjoy greater cost savings by pooling their travel, and tailoring it according to their preferences. SIA will continue to find innovative ways to add value and offer even better choices for our customers.”
