Singapore Airlines has announced plans to refurbish its SilverKris lounge at Heathrow Terminal 2.

The £3.5 million project will include increasing seating space by 16 per cent, with the lounge taking on elements of the carrier’s recently refreshed facilities at Singapore Changi airport’s Terminal 3.

SIA’s Heathrow T2 lounge originally opened in 2015 when the carrier moved into the then new terminal, and Business Traveller last reviewed the first class facility in 2018.

To allow for works to take place the lounge will close on 8 February, with a scheduled reopening of “later in the summer”.

During the closure Singapore Airlines first and business class customers, as well as PPS Club, KrisFlyer Elite Gold, and Star Alliance Gold members travelling on Singapore Airlines flights will be invited to use United Airlines’ United Club T2 lounge, located opposite Gate B46.

The carrier also said that “eligible customers may also make use of the other Star Alliance lounges located within Heathrow airport”.

Commenting on the news Mohamed Rafi Mar, general manager UK and Ireland, Singapore Airlines, said:

“Having continuously operated from the UK’s capital for over 50 years, London is an important premium market for Singapore Airlines.

“The renovation of the SilverKris Lounge at London Heathrow demonstrates our commitment to London and will deliver an enhanced experience to our customers once reopened.”

In December Singapore Airlines announced plans to launch flights from Gatwick airport, with a five-times-weekly service starting this June.
