Priority Pass has outlined plans to double the number of lounge locations offering its Ready 2 Order food and beverage service.
The technology – which was piloted in October 2020 – allows guests to order food and drink from their mobile by scanning a QR code or tapping an NFC-enabled device on signage within the lounge.
The group says that the service will now be rolled out to a further 30 lounge locations by next year, details of which will be announced “in the coming months”.
Priority Pass said that launching the Ready 2 Order initiative had meant that “a number of lounges were able to protect the provision of F&B for guests, whilst ensuring all Members and lounge staff could stay safe via a contactless ordering process”.
Over 100,000 orders have so far been processed through the solution, which is currently offered in locations including the Club Aspire lounge at Heathrow T5. A full list of participating lounges can be seen here.
Priority Pass also said that it was “looking to extend the services it is offering members beyond lounge access”, adding that it was “looking at how its members travel to and from the airport, to truly elevate the travel experience by creating the most seamless of journeys for them – right from when they leave their house through to when they arrive at their destination”.
No specific details have been given on these plans – Business Traveller will report further as more information becomes available.
Earlier this year Priority Pass outlined plans to add over 150 new airport lounges to its programme by the end of 2021, as well as 100 new “premium dining and relaxation experiences and railway and sea port lounges”.
Commenting on the expansion of the Ready 2 Order service, Christopher Evans, joint CEO at Collinson (owner of Priority Pass), said:
“Priority Pass has always been committed to delivering the best traveller experiences possible to our members globally – and that was the case when we implemented Ready 2 Order to continue food and beverage service to our customers in some lounges during the pandemic.
“The global travel industry is thrilled to be welcoming passengers back again – and to be seeing levels of custom we haven’t seen since before the pandemic. But we need to keep pushing ourselves to ensure that the experiences we’re offering passengers as they take to the skies again are really top notch. We’ve got some very exciting announcements coming that are along those lines – so watch this space for more on that soon.”
