Plaza Premium’s Terminal 2 arrivals lounge at Hong Kong International Airport will close in November.
The Hong Kong headquartered lounge operator has no immediate plans to open another lounge at Hong Kong airport after the November closure of its Terminal 2 arrivals lounge, a spokesperson for the company confirmed to Business Traveller Asia-Pacific.
“We obviously keep our eyes open on that opportunity and keep talking to the airport,” the spokesperson said.
She confirmed that the lounge will close on November 5, 2019. Walk-ins will be accepted until midnight on November 4. On November 5, the lounge will remain open for guests who have already checked in and are inside the lounge. No new guests will be accepted on November 5, and Plaza Premium will close the lounge for good once the last guest leaves.
She added that November 5 is the day that Plaza Premium needs to return the space to the Airport Authority Hong Kong. Plaza Premium was not given an option to extend the lease as Terminal 2 is undergoing a reconfiguration project.
Hong Kong’s flag carrier Cathay Pacific Airways closed its The Arrival lounge on November 5, 2018. For nostalgia purposes, you can read a review of that lounge here. Plaza Premium used to operate that lounge, as well as all of Cathay’s lounges in Hong Kong, up until early 2018, when Cathay switched operators of its Hong Kong lounges to French company Sodexo.
With the closure of its arrivals lounge in Hong Kong airport, Plaza Premium now has three remaining lounges in the airport. These are Plaza Premium First, Plaza Premium Lounge (East Hall) and Plaza Premium Lounge (West Hall).
