Pegasus Airlines has announced a new service between Birmingham and Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen International airport for this winter.

The Turkish low-cost carrier will offer three flights per week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) on the route from 21 December, with one-way fares starting from £39.99.

The new service will provide competition for Turkish Airlines, which operates flights between Birmingham and Istanbul airport.

Pegasus already flies from both Manchester and Stansted to Sabiha Gokcen International, as well as from Stansted to Ankara and Izmir, and from Manchester and Stansted to Antalya.

Commenting on the news Nick Barton, CEO of Birmingham airport, said:

“We are very pleased to welcome Pegasus Airlines into the BHX fold. Pegasus is a very impressive low-cost carrier whose commitment to sustainable long-term growth is matched by our own here at BHX.

“I have no doubt these new services to SAW will be very popular with sunseekers, pilgrims, business travellers and people going to see family both in Turkey and across the vast array of destinations offered by Pegasus’s strong onwards network covering Asia, Europe and Africa.”
