Marriott is to open two New York properties under its lifestyle Moxy hotels brand next year.
Real estate investor and developer Lightstone said that both hotels had now topped out, and are set to open in late 2022, adding a total of 519 rooms to the Moxy portfolio.
Moxy Lower East Side will offer 303 rooms, a cocktail bar, restaurant, underground lounge, rooftop bar, fitness centre and three meeting “studios”, while Moxy Williamsburg is located close to Williamsburg Bridge, and will feature 216 rooms, a main-floor bar, a café / restaurant, a cocktail lounge, a fitness centre and a rooftop terrace with views of Manhattan and the East River.
Lightstone’s Moxy portfolio already includes three New York properties – Moxy Times Square, Moxy Chelsea and Moxy East Village – as well as the recently opened Moxy South Beach in Miami.
The group is also developing the dual-branded Moxy Los Angeles Downtown and AC Hotel Los Angeles Downtown.
Marriott launched the Moxy brand in 2013, with the first hotel opening in Milan the following year.
The millenial-focused brand currently has around 70 properties across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, with recent openings including Moxy Slough, Moxy Bordeaux and Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge.
Commenting on the forthcoming New York properties Mitchell Hochberg, president of Lightstone, said:
“We are excited to be expanding our New York Moxy Hotel portfolio with these two dynamic properties. The success of our first three Moxy’s in Manhattan underscores the demand for our trademark style of hospitality.
The timing is also perfect, as New York City makes its dramatic comeback from the past year. We are proud to be part of the city’s renaissance.”
