Passengers travelling via Melbourne Airport will now have more dining options to choose from.
The airport has opened a number of new restaurants and cafes serving a variety of cuisines such as modern Australian, Mediterranean and Asian food as part of its hospitality overhaul, including Pickett’s Deli and Rotisserie, Shane Delia’s Middle Ground and Cobb Lane in between Terminals 2 and 3.
Pickett’s Deli and Rotisserie will bring the Queen Victoria Market concept to the airport by showcasing Victorian produce and serving travellers the signature chicken roll with gravy. Meanwhile, Middle Ground, owned by TV personality Shane Delia, will offer middle-eastern cuisine. Passengers with a sweet tooth can head to café Cobb Lane which will have a range of pastries.
Other new venues now open include: Hawker Bar, Axil Coffee Roasters, Proud Mary and Grill’d.
EARL Canteen will open in mid-2020, while Australia’s first airport brewery, run by Stomping Ground Brewery Co, will open in February. The airport said the brewery will offer a wide range of craft beer, as well as food from the brewery’s Collingwood menu.
Melbourne Airport’s acting chief of retail Rosemary Earner said the airport’s new hospitality offering represented the city’s renowned foodie culture.
“We carefully selected a broad range of local hospitality venues and brands that showcase the city’s diverse culinary offering for the millions of travellers that fly through Melbourne Airport each year,” said Earner.
“Travellers can now grab Scott Pickett’s signature bacon and egg roll, a salad from Middle Ground, or yum cha from Hawker Bar – there’s plenty of choice,” she added.
Chef and Melbourne restaurateur Scott Pickett said he is thrilled to be open at the airport.
“The space looks amazing and the food being delivered is a true representation of the Melbourne casual dining scene. Whether you are flying out for a Christmas break, stopping by for business or heading to Melbourne over the festive season, pop in and try our signature rotisserie chicken roll. Hope to see you soon!”
The airport announced in July that it would be introducing new cafes, restaurants and bars this year as part of a hospitality re-fresh designed to reflect the city’s renowned foodie scene.
