Marriott has debuted its AC Hotels brand in Australia with a property located in Melbourne’s Southbank neighbourhood.

AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank features 205 rooms and suites, dining venues and an infinity pool and cocktail bar with views of the city skyline.

The hotel has been designed by DKO Architecture in collaboration with Capital Alliance and features modern décor with open-plan layouts. The geometric glass façade will be activated by LED lighting at night, shining amongst the Fishermans Bend skyline.

Meanwhile the ‘free of clutter’ rooms feature sleek desks, open closets, natural stone tiling, textured timber, metal details, drapery and brass accents.

Marriott says that the design “reflects the industrial warehouse scenes of South Melbourne while echoing the Spanish roots of the AC brand”.

Dining venues include Sorolla, which offers breakfast from the open kitchen; the Triana Bar, featuring a long, freestanding bar and finishes of timber, natural stone, bronze accents; and pool bar Bar de Buceo. The hotel also has a modern co-working space which transforms into a social hub with European-style tapas in the evening.

Leisure facilities include an outdoor infinity-edge swimming pool spanning the width of the building and a 24-hour fitness centre.

There is also 576 sqm of flexible meeting spaces, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing natural light, along with an outdoor covered terrace room and pool bar.
