Mandarin Oriental has announced plans to open its first Tel Aviv hotel in late 2023.
The beachfront property will have 181 rooms, 44 suites, and 230 of the group’s long-stay Residences.
There will also be five restaurants and bars, various meeting facilities, a ballroom, spa and outdoor pool with dining options.
It will be located on Tel Aviv’s so-called ‘Golden Kilometer’ along the coast, home to some of the city’s most expensive real estate, though the group has not specified the exact location.
The hotel will be designed by Kohn Pederson Fox, the architects behind the Landmark Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, while the interiors will be by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, who also did the group’s hotels in Milan and Bodrum.
Meanwhile the Residences will be designed by Israel’s Moshe Tzur Architects, with interiors by Milan-based Michael Vincent Uy.
“We are delighted to be opening a Mandarin Oriental hotel in Israel that will introduce new levels of luxury and a range of exceptional experiences to the city,” said James Riley, CEO of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
“Tel Aviv is a vibrant destination appealing to a wide range of international travellers seeking a unique cultural and leisure experience. This project is ideally placed to take advantage of the city’s many attractions.”
Mandarin Oriental has recently announced plans for properties in Lucerne, Nanjing and Istanbul.
In March it reopened its newly-renovated Hyde Park hotel, which closed following a fire.
