The city of Deoghar in Jharkhand is set to get a new airport. Airports Authority of India (AAI) is developing this project in partnership with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the state government.
This will be the second airport in Jharkhand after Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.
Deoghar airport will be spread across 653.75 acres of land and the terminal building will be built across 4,000 sqm area. With a 2,500 metre long runway, it will be suitable for AB-320 type aircraft.
There will be six check-in counters and two arrival belts with peak hour handling capacity of 200 pax.
The airport will feature an eco-friendly design and state-of-the-art facilities for passengers. The terminal building will draw inspiration from the popular Baidyanath temple of Deoghar.
“The development of this airport will give an impetus to local tourism and improve the overall economic development of the region,” AAI said in an official tweet.
