Japan Airlines (JAL) will operate repatriation flights from Bengaluru to Tokyo Narita for Japanese nationals who wish to return to Japan amid the Covid-19 crisis.

There will be a flight departing Bengaluru at 1900 everyday between April 12 and 14 and arriving at Tokyo Narita at 0630 the next day.

The airline will use a Boeing 787-9 aircraft which has 239 seats to operate the flights.

JAL said tickets will be made available for purchase through its ticketing office in India and through “local travel professionals”.

According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), there are 5,194 confirmed coronavirus cases in India and 149 people have died from the disease in the country.

In Japan, there are 4,257 confirmed cases, according to the same WHO report and 81 deaths. The country declared a state of emergency in seven prefectures on April 7 amid a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases in the country.

Japan’s flag carrier announced earlier this month that it will reduce approximately 85 per cent of its international services through April 30, 2020.
