India is set to receive the first batch of rapid testing kits for Covid-19 today from China.
A total of 650,000 kits, including Rapid Antibody Tests and RNA extraction kits, have been dispatched early today from Guangzhou Airport, announced Vikram Misri, the ambassador of India to the People’s Republic of China. More kits are expected in the coming weeks.
According to industry reports, India will receive 3 lakh rapid antibody testing kits from China’s Wondfo Biotech Co and 2.5 lakh kits from Zhuhai Livzon Diagnostics Inc. in the first batch.
Meanwhile, the Indian government has also given its nod for made-in India rapid test kits. Gujarat-based Voxtur Bio, New Delhi-based Vanguard Diagnostics and the Kerala-based HLL Lifecare will be supplying these testing kits.
As per the MyGov platform, India, at present, has reported 10477 active cases, 1488 cured, 414 deaths due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
