Iberia has introduced a number of new aircraft cleaning solutions to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The carrier has partnered with Spanish start-up company Airline Loop to design “more flexible and sustainable equipment for sanitising aircraft cabins”.
These include new “electrostatic pistols” which “shoot a fine powder that kills the Covid-19 virus on contact, making the sanitising both faster and more uniform, while reaching the most inaccessible parts of armrests, headrests, folding trays, seat folds, hand luggage compartments, toilets, etc. between flights”.
Iberia’s short and medium-haul fleet is currently being deep cleaned on a daily basis, to international standards set by EASA and IATA, and certified by Airbus and Boeing.
In an attempt to use more sustainable cleaning methods, the carrier has also switched to cleaning cloths and mops made from 100 per cent bamboo fibre, which it says are “tougher, more elastic, and totally recyclable”.
Iberia is gradually rebuilding its network following the onset of Covid-19, with UK flights to Gatwick and Manchester resuming this month, alongside existing services to Heathrow.
