Hyatt has announced plans to expand its luxury and lifestyle brands in the Asia-Pacific region.

The hotel group will bring its Caption by Hyatt, Destination by Hyatt and Thompson Hotels brands to the Asia Pacific market as the region begins to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The first Caption by Hyatt hotel is expected to open this year in Shanghai’s Zhongshan Park business district and will feature shared social space, all-day dining and “sustainable operations”.

This year will also see the introduction of the Destination by Hyatt brand in Asia Pacific, which comprises a collection of independent hotels, resorts and residences “that are individual at heart” and “embody the true spirit of each location”. This year will see the opening of a hotel in Qingchengshan in Sichuan Province, followed by a hotel in Dalian in Liaoning Province in 2026.

In 2023, the group will debut its Thompson Hotels brand in the region at the Expo Park by Huangpu River in Shanghai’s Pudong District. The property aims to attract both leisure travellers and trade show attendees.

Meanwhile, the group plans to strengthen its Alila brand in the region with three upcoming openings. Alila Taihu Suzhou in China will be located amid hills on Xishan Island, offering panoramic views of the Taihu Lake, while Alila Kothaifaru Maldives will be situated in the Raa Atoll and provide access to various marine activities. The group will also open Alila Dalit Bay Sabah in the Malaysian city of Kota Kinabalu.

The Andaz brand will further expand its presence in Greater China with upcoming openings in Nanjing and Macau, while it will also debut in Thailand this year with beachfront resort Andaz Pattaya Jomtien Beach. This will be followed by the opening of Andaz One Bangkok in 2023.
