Hyatt is set to bring its Hyatt Centric lifestyle brand to Hokkaido in northern Japan in 2024.
The 216-room Hyatt Centric Sapporo will mark the third property under the brand in Japan, following the Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo and Hyatt Centric Kanazawa.
The hotel will occupy the upper floors of a 26-storey complex that is currently under construction. Accommodations will feature panoramic views, while the property will also have two dining outlets and multi-functional events spaces.
Hyatt Centric Sapporo will be adjacent to the historic Akarenga-chosha, Hokkaido’s former government office, and close to Odori Park. In terms of transport, it will be a few minutes’ walk from the Odori subway station through an underground walkway and a ten-minute walk from the JR Sapporo station.
Sapporo is well known for its annual Sapporo Snow Festival, which displays snow sculptures and ice installations every winter, and for its ski resorts, national parks and mountains.
Sam Sakamura, Hyatt’s vice president – Japan and Micronesia, commented:
“We are honored to collaborate with NTT Urban Development Corporation on the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Hokkaido, one of Japan’s most fascinating destinations.
“As the third Hyatt Centric hotel in Japan, we continue to expand Hyatt’s lifestyle brand presence to better meet the diverse needs of the market and travelers, and we look forward to welcoming guests to discover Sapporo’s vibrant culture, thriving food scene and Hokkaido’s spectacular landscapes.”
Hyatt has entered into a management agreement with NTT Urban Development Corporation for the new property.
