Business Traveller rounds up new, upcoming and renovated hotels from brands including Marriott, Intercontinental Hotels Group and Hyatt.
Courtyard by Marriott Zhengzhou Airport, China
Marriott has opened this latest branch of its Courtyard brand in Henan’s provincial capital. The hotel has 270 rooms and is situated in the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, a five-minute drive to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport. The rooms are designed around the idea of ample workspace, and come with complimentary wifi.
The dining option is Pavilion, an all-day venue that serves buffets of Western and Chinese cuisines. The fitness centre is open 24/7. There are six event rooms, the largest of which is 500 sqm. They are available for private events, corporate meetings and weddings.
Voronezh Marriott, Russia
Marriott has arrived in the south Russian city. Located in the town centre, the hotel has 221 rooms, and the M Club Lounge is available for those staying in executive rooms and suites. There are three dining options: Grill & Grain steakhouse serves steak and seafood with a wide selection of single malt whiskies; Olea is a Mediterranean restaurant that serves wood-fired pizzas, local produce and fresh pastas; and Avenue 38, which transforms between tea, coffee and pastries in the morning to wine, cocktails and bar food in the evening.
Nine modern conference halls constitute a total events space of 1,000 sqm, and a grand ballroom can accommodate 550 guests and has flexible wall divisions.
Hyatt Regency Moscow Petrovsky Park, Russia
The first Hyatt Regency and second overall Hyatt property in the Russian capital has just opened, with 298 rooms, including 39 suites. There are three on-site dining options. Heritage serves dishes originating from the Black Sea to the Pacific; The Oriental is Asian-influenced and also has an extensive collection of Japanese whiskies; and the Promenade Lounge is a more relaxed space for coffee, tea or wine.
The 2,700 sqm fitness centre has a pool, spa and 24-hour gym for unwinding, while on the business side there is 3,500 sqm of events space; the 700 sqm Regency Ballroom can host up to 600 people.
Renaissance Dubai Downtown Hotel, UAE
This Marriott brand has arrived in Dubai. Designed by interior firm WA International, the hotel has 298 rooms, including 65 suites. The hotel’s 24-hour fitness centre includes a heated outdoor pool, and there is also a spa open every day of the week.
Currently available dining options include Bhar, a Middle Eastern-style brasserie; two restaurants from chef David Myers called Basta! and Bleu Blanc that serve Italian and French farmhouse cuisines respectively; and Grounded for quick bites and coffee. Coming soon will be Morimoto Dubai, which blends Japanese and Western ingredients. Additionally, there are six event rooms with a total space of almost 660 sqm, the largest of which is 300 sqm, that can be used for meetings and weddings.
Radisson Blu Hotel Beirut Verdun, Lebanon
This is the second Radisson Blu to open in the Lebanese capital. Located in Verdun, the city’s shopping district, the hotel has 127 rooms with free wifi and 24-hour room service. The numerous dining options available include the international Cook House Restaurant; the Shogun Lounge that serves Chinese and Japanese food; Teatro Verdun, which offers French and Japanese cuisine plus cocktails; and the food court, which has a Lebanese bakery rubbing shoulders with McDonald’s and in-house fast food option Dip N’ Crunch.
Alongside a gym there are boutiques and gift shops, a dance theatre, an amusement centre, a bowling centre and cinemas. The hotel’s meeting spaces can host up to 600 people; chief among them is the 377 sqm ballroom.
Kimpton Taipei, Taiwan
The first Kimpton hotel in Taiwan will open in 2018. It will be situated in central Taipei, and be 14 storeys tall with 129 rooms and suites, as well as a rooftop deck. There’s little information beyond that, but expect some premium dining experiences as part and parcel of the Kimpton brand.
The Middle House Shanghai, China
Coming to the city’s commercial Dazhongli neighbourhood in April 2018, this hotel will have 111 rooms as well as 102 serviced apartments designed by Milan-based architect Piero Lissoni. Thus far details are sparse, but it will include a private events space, a fully-equipped gym and heated pool, and a variety of dining options, one of which has been announced: Café Gray Deluxe, whose cuisine will be modern and European.
Pestana Amsterdam Riverside, The Netherlands
This five-star hotel, opening in February, will be based in the historic former Town Hall and Archive of the Amstel Community. There are 154 bedrooms, suites and apartments, the latter equipped with kitchenettes. On-site dining comes in the form of Arc. from chef Peter Lute, featuring a patio garden. The leisure facilities will include a gym, two types of sauna and an indoor pool. There are three luxury meeting rooms for small-scale business gatherings, as well as four rooms that can be combined depending on delegate sizes.
