Dubai-based carrier, flydubai, will launch a daily service to Mogadishu Aden Adde International airport (MGQ) from March 9, 2023.

The airline said that it will double the frequency of its flights on this route from June 1, 2023.

The new direct flights make it the first carrier to connect Somalia directly with Dubai and the UAE. The route will be operated by the airline’s fleet of Boeing 737 Max aircraft.

The flights will operate between Terminal 2 at Dubai International (DXB) and MGQ airport. Return business class fares from DXB to MGQ start from Dhs12,000 and economy class lite fares start from Dhs3,000.

With the commencement of these flights to Mogadishu from March 9, flydubai will expand its network in Africa to 11 destinations. This other points in Africa that it flies to include Addis Ababa, Alexandria, Asmara, Dar es Salaam, Djibouti, Entebbe, Hargeisa, Khartoum, Juba and Zanzibar.

This region has seen significant economic growth and development in recent years, our direct flights will further stimulate the economy and help create free flows of travel and trade,” said Hamad Obaidalla, chief commercial officer at flydubai.

This year, flydubai is in the midst of rapidly growing its destination network. From February 28, it will resume services to Shymkent International airport in Kazakhstan with a twice-weekly service. From January 28 onwards, it already resumed twice-weekly operations to Ashgabat in Turkmenistan.
