Having started operations in 1923, Finnair marks the 100th year of its inception this year. As a way of celebrating this milestone, the airline is upgrading passengers’ in-flight experience with the launch of Red and White wines as a part of its onboard drink selection. Finnair customers traveling to Helsinki from Mumbai or New Delhi and back can now savour the wine offering in Economy Class as well.
The wine blends have been created in collaboration with Ken Chase, an international wine expert. The first one is the Castilla la Mancha White 2022, which is a combination of Airén (85 per cent) and Verdejo (15 per cent) grapes. This blend has been carefully formulated to taste great on board while appealing to a wide range of taste buds. The second blend, Castilla la Mancha Red 2022, is a fusion of three grape varieties: Tempranillo (85 per cent), Syrah (10 per cent), and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon (5 per cent). The resulting blend is perfectly balanced and ideal for consumption in the dry cabin air.
Commenting on the new wine offering, Sakari Romu – General Manager, Finnair said, “We are extremely excited to introduce the welcome addition in our onboard menu. The celebration of our 100th year anniversary is not just about looking back at our achievements, but also about continuously improving the passenger experience. With the launch of our new Red and White wines, we aim to delight our customers’ taste buds and enhance their journey with Finnair. As we prepare to celebrate our centenary, we want to revisit our Nordic roots and offer our customers a traditional Finnish experience.”
In addition to the wines, the carrier has also added an exclusive Kyrö distillery vodka in business class. And all water bottles on the flights will have a Finnair 100 logo. The airlines will soon introduce new textiles and cutlery for the flights.
