Etihad Airways has announced a codeshare agreement with Royal Jordanian.
Following this, Etihad Airways will place its code “EY” on Royal Jordanian’s flights from Abu Dhabi via Amman to Larnaca and Berlin. Destinations including Algiers, Tunis, Vienna and Montreal will be added to the agreement soon.
Likewise, the flag carrier of Jordan will place its code “RJ” on Etihad Airways services from Amman to Abu Dhabi and vice versa, and then from Abu Dhabi to Brisbane and Seoul.
As a part of this agreement, Royal Jordanian will also market Etihad Airways flights from Abu Dhabi to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Calicut, Cochin, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Manila, Beijing, and Shanghai, subject to approval.
Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Aviation Group, said, “This partnership reinforces the deep cultural, tourism and trade connections between the UAE and Jordan, and opens up a new world of opportunities for our customers.
“Royal Jordanian, as one of the oldest and most experienced airlines in the region, and Etihad as one of the youngest and most acclaimed. Both share the common values of genuine Arabian hospitality and service, combined with the next-generation fleets, enviable reputations for efficiency and reliability, and a combined network spanning the globe. This is the first phase of what we hope is a long-lasting and expanding partnership.”
Etihad Airways currently operates two daily flights on Abu Dhabi-Amman route. On the other hand, Royal Jordanian operates nine weekly flights to Abu Dhabi.
