In other news, another Chinese carrier Air China has announced the launch of its new Shanghai Pudong-London Gatwick service on November 2, after the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) approved the new route in early August. The Chinese flag carrier will use its A350-900 aircraft to fly this route four times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The proposed schedule of Air China’s new service is shown below:
Flight No. | From | To | Departs | Arrives | Days |
CA847 | Shanghai Pudong (PVG) | London Gatwick (LGW) | 0105 | 0555 | Saturday |

Other airlines that operate regular flights between Shanghai and London include Virgin Atlantic and British Airways.
Virgin Atlantic flies daily between Shanghai Pudong and London Heathrow with a Boeing 787-9; while in addition to a daily service, British Airways also operates an extra three-times-weekly flight between Shanghai Pudong and London Heathrow, all operated by a Boeing 777 aircraft.
That is to say, there will be at least four and up to six daily flights connecting the two cities from this November.
