British Airways has launched a new partnership with the Thames Clippers service, offering customers discounted fares to London City Airport.
The river bus service (officially branded as Uber Boat by Thames Clippers) stops at 24 piers between Putney Pier in the west and Barking Riverside in the east.
The closest stop to London City is Royal Wharf Pier, which opened in 2019 and is just over a mile from the airport, or a couple of stops on the DLR.
Travellers can get 25 per cent off tickets by using the code BALCY25 – customers can avail of the discount when travelling to or from London City Airport with flights on the same day, and the terms and conditions of the offer state that “passengers may be required to present their British Airways boarding pass as proof of eligibility for the discount”.
The discount means customers can get tickets from £4.20 when travelling within the East Zone, and £7.69 when travelling from central London.
In addition to the fare discount customers can get a free hot drink at the onboard cafe bat when showing their boarding pass.
The first eastbound service arrives into Royal Wharf Pier at 0604 on weekdays and 0944 at weekends, with the last services arriving at 2341 and 2351 respectively.
Meanwhile the first westbound departures from Royal Wharf Pier are at 0641 on weekdays and 0826 on weekends, with the last services departing at 2136 and 2056 respectively.
Commenting on the news Tom Stoddart, CEO of BA Cityflyer, said:
“Not only is flying from London City a convenient and quick way to travel, but it allows our customers to really embrace our brilliant city.
“With views of the Canary Wharf skyline and the River Thames, it’s an airport like no other and working with Uber Boat by Thames Clippers helps us to extend the London experience beyond the airport.”
