All Nippon Airways (ANA) will add a selection of 26 Japanese sake brands to its service onboard and at ANA lounges next month.
The selection of sake, which will total 34 brands from March 1, is being renewed for the first time in three years.
The sake will be available in first and business class on international flights, in premium class on domestic flights. It will also be offered at the ANA Suite Lounge for international and domestic flights, and at ANA Lounge for international flights.
ANA says that the new additions include rare brands that will “satisfy avid Japanese sake connoisseurs” as well as brands that will appeal to first-time sake customers from overseas.
The airline’s sake advisor Yasuyuki Kitahara, who is also assistant food and beverage manager of Conrad Tokyo, evaluated and tasted 207 nominated sake brands to make the final selections. He stated:
“I have selected a lineup that emphasises seasonal taste. Just as ANA offers seasonal dishes for inflight meals, we also offer seasonal flavours for our sake. The dishes and drinks we serve are prepared with passion and will serve as a lasting memory of your trip to Japan.”
