Air France is now offering medium-haul customers access to free live TV in partnership with France 24.
The service is available on aircraft fitted with the carrier’s Connect technology, which already offers passengers the choice of connecting to wifi through three levels of free and paid-for passes.
Air France said that the portal offers access to real-time news bulletins (in French and English) throughout the flight, as well as a wide selection of films, series and documentaries through passengers’ personal devices.
The airline said that long-haul customers already have access to a selection of France 24 documentaries and programmes as part of the IFE offering, and added that the France 24 channel is also broadcast live “in most Air France-KLM lounges”.
Air France is aiming to have a fully-connected fleet by the end of 2020. So far 35 long-haul aircraft and 15 short and medium-haul planes have been equipped, and by the end of this year the carrier says it will have connected half of its medium and long-haul fleets.
