Air France has issued an update on the rollout of its Ready to Fly service, including the automation of its vaccine pass verification for domestic flights.
The carrier piloted the Ready to Fly service (which allows customers to have their travel documents checked prior to their flight) in July 2021, and it is now available on 140 routes from 80 airports, across 600 daily Air France flights.
This includes all domestic flights in France and to/from Corsica and French Overseas Department, as well as flights to/from the US, Argentina, Brazil, flights from France to Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Gabon and Senegal, and flights to France on departure from Europe and Canada.
The airline says that the service has so far been used by over 600,000 customers.
Meanwhile, Air France has also replaced its manual verification of the French vaccine pass for domestic flights with an automated check, “ensuring customers travelling in France receive instant confirmation”.
The move follows the French government’s decision to make the vaccine pass mandatory for domestic flights in France for passengers aged 16 and over (excluding flights to/from Corsica and the French overseas departments).
The carrier said that the new automate feature is available “a few days before departure”, with customers receiving an email inviting them to upload their pass to a secure online platform.
Those who have not used the pre-validation service before can scan the QR code of their vaccine pass during check-in at a self-service kiosk at the airport on the day of departure (available at Paris CDG, Paris Orly, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Mulhouse, Nantes, Nice, Strasbourg and Toulouse airports).
The intention is to integrated the feature into the online check-in process in the coming months, and Air France said that “the pre-travel validation of the vaccine pass will limit the number of manual checks required at the boarding gate, and improve flight punctuality”.
