Aer Lingus has announced plans to resume flights between Dublin and Miami later this year.
The Irish flag carrier last served the Floridian city in March 2020, when the route was suspended due to the onset of Covid-19.
Twice-weekly flights (Friday and Sunday) will resume on October 21, 2022, rising to thrice-weekly (with an extra flight on Wednesday) from October 29.
Aer Lingus said that the removal of testing requirements for fully vaccinated arrivals into the UK was welcome news for customers, and referred to “pent-up demand for transatlantic travel”.
Fares start from £229 each way (based on a return trip) in economy, and £1,999 return in business class, and connections are possible from UK airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Miami will be the second city in Florida to see the return of Aer Lingus services, following Orlando in November 2021.
Commenting on the news Bill Byrne, executive vice-president US at Aer Lingus, said:
“We are delighted to be building back our US connectivity this year and there’s no doubt that travel is back for 2022. We are so happy to be flying to the US again, and this week we are delighted to be continuing to connect families, friends and businesses to Florida.”
