Accor has teamed up with real estate company Tokyu Resorts and Stays Co. to open its first dual-branded property in Japan.
The Osaka-based property will open on December 1, combining Accor’s midscale Mercure brand and Japanese long-stay brand Tokyu Stay.
The 288-room Mercure Tokyu Stay Osaka Namba will be located a four-minute walk from Namba station, which provides a direct train to Kansai International airport.
The design includes dark interiors reminiscent of firewood – an ode to the Nishi Shinsaibashi area which housed warehouses for firewood wholesalers during the Edo period. These later turned into galleries and boutiques for local artist and creatives.
Accommodations are designed for both short- and long-stay guests, with a selection offering washer-dryers and kitchenettes. All rooms include 50-inch TVs, rain showers and high speed wifi.
Facilities will include Italian cuisine at all-day dining restaurant Centre M, which will also serve a daily-changing buffet breakfast and afternoon tea.
