Accor has announced plans to open a new dual-branded property in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
The Tribe and Ibis hotels will be housed within the South wing of the Liberty office development in the city’s District IX, next to the Groupama Arena and Telekom headquarters.
Both properties are scheduled to open in the autumn of 2023, and will each offer 166 guest rooms, with the Ibis hotel featuring the brand’s latest Urban Plaza design concept, and rooms accommodating up to six guests.
Meanwhile Tribe Budapest will offer a ground floor centred around a lobby area and lounge which doubles as a business corner.
The property will also offer an a la carte restaurant with summer terrace, a sky bar, a fitness centre, underground parking and a conference facilities for up to 220 delegates.
Accor acquired Australian hotel group Mantra in 2018, and with it a sole existing hotel in Perth under the Tribe name.
The decision was made to roll out the brand as a four-star midscale offering, with ten properties set to open by 2022.
Glasgow had been scheduled to be the first European location for the brand, but that honour ended up going to Tribe Paris Batignolle, a 79-room hotel close to Parc Martin Luther King.
Last summer Accor announced plans for the first Tribe property in England, located on Chicago Avenue as part of Airport City Manchester, around 400 metres from Manchester airport’s Terminal 2.
Commenting on the news Camil Yazbeck, senior vice president, head of development, Accor Northern Europe, said:
“Budapest is a leading European and global tourism destination, with excellent infrastructure and exciting cultural, business and lifestyle attractions. The city is a key market for Accor in the region and beyond.
“This is why we chose to bring here some of our boldest and most innovative concepts – the new Tribe, a midscale brand for contemporary nomads, and the new generation of Ibis hotels – the most dynamic accommodation alternative on the economy segment.”
